A look at Arkham Origins so far

So with the new game in the Arkham series set to be released in just under 2 months (October 25th) and from all of the trailers and reports/ previews I've read it seems to be shaping up rather nicely compared to it's predecessors.

With the Joker's death at the end of Arkham City I was gutted at the thought that the newest game wouldn't involve everyone's favourite villain, however after finding out that this game will be set before Arkham Asylum tied into the fact that the Joker actually makes an appearance in the new instalment put my worries aside. Although Mark Hamill is no longer voicing The Joker and has actually been replaced with Troy Baker who voiced  Booker in Bioshock Infinite.

Joker isn't the only one to lose his original voice actors since Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman over a number of different projects is also not reprising his role and is instead being replaced by Rodger Craig Smith. Personally I don't think that this is a bad thing since  it gives the younger batman a more unrefined nature led by emotions. So a good start to the game!

Next thing to look at is the villains. The fact that Black Mask seems to be the leading villain in this game is, in my personal opinion, a great thing since it allows for fans of just the game series learn a little bit more about a character who may not be known as well as he should be. This is also shown throughout the side missions in Arkham city as the player gets to meet such characters like Deadshot or Mad Hatter who they may not have initially recognised. Speaking of Deadshot, he is one of the many villains who are trying to collect the $50,000,000 bounty on Batman's head. Villains such as Bane and the Joker make a return to the game as well as the introduction of Copperhead and Deathstroke (Who I'm particularly excited about since it was announced that he will be a playable character) The strong set of villains, both old and new, will make this game awesome, hopefully game of the year.

Another pretty cool looking thing is the revamped detective mode. Shown in a number of first look videos is how Batman can recreate events such as the helicopter crash and then being able to piece it all together. As someone who is training to be a Forensic scientist that will be a very useful feature to have! However cool this maybe it does kind of take away the realism that the Arkham series has had the majority of the time. Saying this however, it will still be fun as fuck tracking down the bad guys whilst piecing all of the clues together.

Overall I think this is going to be a pretty freaking awesome game with new villains and effectiviely a new take on Batman/Bruce Wayne as a younger less experienced crime fighter. Hopefully it will make game of the year and I will definitely be queuing up for this as soon as it comes out.

New superheroes set for Avengers 2

So being bored on Facebook a friend sent me a link about Avengers 2 which I am already incredibly excited for. Clicking the link I stumble across, what I personally think, is the best news for comic film fans in a long time.

It has been announced that the writer/director Joseph Whedon for the new avenger film has announced that two new avengers will be joining the team! And they are Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Both of whom I am incredibly excited about. Whilst they are well known to the comic community for being the son and daughter of the powerful mutant Magneto, I am wondering whether this will be bought up in the new film which is set to be released in 2015.

Although excited I am kind of skeptical about how they are going to portray the Scarlet Witch. I know aliens and gods are not uncommon in the first Avenger film, and that it won't be as 'realistic' as the Dark Knight Trilogy, but will thy really give Scarlet Witch the almighty powers that she actually has or will they tone it down a bit. The latter would be a real shame to any comic book fan.

My last little point is that as these two new additions are actually mutants, as well as the children of a mutant, will it be mentioned/hinted at in the upcoming film? The possibility to link the 2 franchises could result in something huge for everyone, if done correctly. You have to admit that it would be freaking sweet if it led to a combined movie such as Avengers Vs X-Men (Although some key characters such as Professor X and Cyclops have already been killed off in X-men: Last Stand)

Can't wait to here more news!!

Injustice: Gods Among Us Review

So I think that this is the first game review that I've done so please bare with me :P As the title of this post suggests today I will be looking at is Injustice: Gods Among Us. I recently completed the main storyline and played a lot of other aspects offline (due to not being able to afford Xbox Live :/ ) Anywho, we shall begin.

Today I will be looking at a number of different aspects of the game including: Story lines/plot, characters, locations ,Graphics ,move-sets and length of game-play

Storyline/plot
So when playing through the story mode you get a real sense of what you are getting into. Watching the opening scene when Joker threatens to release a nuclear bomb in Metropolis really gives you, the player, the sense that some ass really does need kicking. From the play-through you see the melt down of Superman in alternative universe where he accidently  causes the destruction of the whole of  Metropolis. From then on the current team from our universe help the Insurgency.
The plot is great as to see what would happen if someone regarded as the ultimate hero loses everything he loves, blinded by rage, and vows to dedicate his life to rebuilding it. It's really interesting to see the change of roles throughout the game. Heroes become your enemies and your enemies become someone you would trust your life with (still wary of The Joker of course..)
7/10

Characters

There are a total of 24 playable characters within the game including both heroes and villains such as Batman, Joker, Superman, Doomsday, Flash, Black Adam etc. During the main story mode, you get to play as the majority of heroes but you also get to play as some of the villains as well including Joker, Harley Quinn  and Deathstroke. However, cool it is being a superhero and kicking butt, it's always more bad ass when you're playing as a villain.
Also currently there are 2 DLC characters which can be purchased, Lobo, who is classed as a power character, and Batgirl, who is a gadget user. Unfortunately I haven't played these characters due to the fact that I do not have Xbox Live.
Each character has at least two costumes which you need to unlock (usually done by completing the classic battle mode) which is good as it helps tweak the hero/villain to how the player wants.
The variety of characters from the DC universe allow for the player to choose their favourite, perfect their skills, and destroy their enemy be it online or offline

https://www.injustice.com/en/characters

9/10

Locations

The locations used throughout the game are great. They range literally from the streets or Gotham all the way to the space station of Lex Luthor and everywhere in between . Throughout Gotham you can fight in a number of different places such as The Wayne Mansion (Day and Night), the Batcave, and the streets of Gotham (I think it's Crime Alley). Even in these locations, there are a number of different areas which you can battle in. It's truly awesome. The variety of locations is pretty good although I think that a couple more could have been added in the main game so that it gives a lot more variety. Maybe not near the level of Super Smash Bros, but the quality and details of each of the stages are great. To be honest I think that the fact that there are many different locations of each stage really adds to the game.

8/10

Graphics

As touched previously in the locations, the graphics are pretty spectacular throughout the game, both with the stages you play in as well as the actual heroes and villains that you can play. The attention to detail for some of the more famous locations such as Arkham Asylum are great and with the added possibility of a destructible environment really shows how the developers nailed it on the head. This said however, the transition between locations on some of the stages do lose a little bit of that quality. It's hard to spot because everything moves so fast during this time but you can definitely see it if you pay attention. This is not a problem for each of the characters though. Each hero/villain looks perfect, the art team really nailed each individual not just with their biological features but there outfits as well. For example, the picture of Deathstroke above, if enlarged, you can really see all of the effort that went into his costume. Even when playing the game, features such as capes and gadgets that the character may possess move realistically with each movement really giving us, the player, the sense that it could actually all be real.

9/10

Move-sets

Obviously as this is a fighting game the move-set is really quite important. Each character has his/her own supermove which is visually epic as well as knocking off a third of your opponents health which really helps. You also get special moves which are tailored to each individual such as Superman's laser eyes or using Green Lantern mini-gun. But after these sets of moves you do get the familiar punches and kicks with very little variety between the characters. Because of this I found myself resorting to a bit of button-mashing which appears really quite effective in close quarters. To be honest I don't think that this was what the developers had in mind when making the game.

Also there are sequences that appear out a battle which you, the player, can select how much of your special meter you want to use. By either being the fighter who is attacking or defending, you can either dish out a 30% damage to your opponent or gain 30% health. At this current stage of playing I don't really know how this sequence is initiated or how it is determined who is attacking or defending. I think that they just appear every 35-40 in order to get the fight moving on a bit however this is also makes the player think tactically. Do you use a full metre to perform your supermove or do you the same amount of metre to regain up to 30% of your health.

7/10

Length

When playing the game and skipping all of the cut-scenes (which I do not recommend. They are pretty awesome time to time) you can complete the main story mode in about 6 hours of solid continuous game play with a couple of retries along the way. Watching the trailers though adds up to nearly two extra hours which is actually worth it as it emerges you into the whole experience. If you don't have the game yet and want to watch some of these cut-scenes there are a lot of channels where they show them all as a kind of movie like this one---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCyhEbqmDEo

Although this isn't the longest story mode ever to grace video games there is a ton of extra stuff to do such as Battle mode where you can face your enemy in a number of different scenarios (fighting whilst slowly losing health because you are poisoned is a good one). Also after completing Classic Battle with a character you get to see a little insight into that character post-story mode which is pretty good. There is also S.T.A.R labs which is like a little sideline story mode, only focusing on one character for approximately 10 battles, each with certain requirements you need to do before advancing onto the next stage.

Finally, there are a lot of things to unlock such as different outfits for your characters, the concept art for the game, the soundtrack used in game-play and different battle modes. These are acquired by using tokens that you collect through levelling up (I'm currently on Level 40 and still have a long-way to go) but this adds re-playability to the game which is always good.

8/10
Overall I feel like this is a great game for any comic fans as well as any fans of games like Tekken or Mortal Combat. Whilst it may not have the move-set like those games it is still really fun to punch or kick your opponent through a cave wall or using the Supermoves to punch your enemy up to space and then slam him/her back down. It is quite easy to see why E3 awarded it with Best Fighting game of 2012

Overall : 8/10

Comic Trivia Of The Day-Captain Marvel

Sorry for this really late post, been really busy with work, college etc. Anyway you don't care about that so let's crack on.

As the title suggests we are looking at Captain Marvel (spelt Mar-Vell in the marvel universe). He is a Kree superhero that has helped save the world time and time again, and he also sacrificed himself during the Avengers vs X-men storyline (Secret Avengers #28) to save the Kree world. But did you know in another entirely separate universe, not even the Marvel Universe. Yes. That's right. DC have their own Captain Marvel.

Billy Batson's alter-ego is more  famously known as Shazaam now, as part of the new 52 which has reinvented a lot of the old storyline's and characters such as our man Shazaam. Up until recently Shazaam was an actually Billy Batson's mentor who was training Captain Marvel (The two were constantly mixed up so Marvel's name was changed to Shazaam as part of the new 52 series)

Comic Trivia Of The Day- Professor X

So here is today's issue of Comic Trivia Of The Day. Enjoy!

Many people know who Charles Xavier aka Professor X is. A man who is a figurehead for the mutant community, setting up a school for the gifted for those young pupils to hone and craft their powers in order to use them for good whilst also protecting them from the prejudice outside world.

Along with being a father figure at the school, for both students and teachers (who consist of Cyclops, Storm and even Wolverine) he is also probably the worlds most powerful telepathic. He can access the minds of anyone (excluding Magneto when he wears his custom-made helmet) he can cage dark personalities within someone (the Phoenix in Jean Gray for example) whilst he can pick out your darkest secrets if he wanted to.

Since he is all so powerful, many people wonder why he is in a wheelchair since he wasn't born that way and he doesn't suffer from any debilitating illnesses. Most people, who have either read the comics or seen the film, know that Professor X was unfortunately paralysed by another. Many people believe that it was either at the hands of Magneto ( was is depicted in X-Men First Class) or by the mammoth Juggernaut. But this is not the case.

According to the main continuity line that Marvel uses, Professor Charles Xavier was actually paralysed by an alien scout named Lucifer who dropped a giant stone onto the Professor which caused Charles' legs to be crippled. Seems a bit odd that one it wasn't one of the main characters we here of when reading a comic with any involvement of the X-Men but hey-ho.

Thank you for reading guys and girls, come back tomorrow for another issue of Comic Trivia Of The Day

Comic Trivia Of The Day-X-men Origins: Wolverine

So today's little piece of trivia is something that I have just realised. Literally moments before I began writing this post for you.

X-men Origins: Wolverine was probably the best of all the X-men films that have been made so far. The casting was surprisingly good and even Will.I.Am did an all right job. But the supporting character I am most interested in was Ryan Reynolds He portrays a. character known as Wade Wilson. More well known in the comic books as our favourite mercenary Deadpool.

Unfortunately for us fans he didn't turn into the character we all now and love but he turned into a super-mutant with the powers of many of the other X-men including Scott Summers, Cyclops. Although he turns into a grotesque monster which many fans feel cheated out of, there were still some subtle references to the insane character.

One is that when Wade turns into the 'The Deadpool' you see that his mouth is sewn up (see below) and Stryker says how Wade always talked to much. Obviously this is a reference to the 'Merc with a Mouth '

Another little fact is that Ryan Reynolds, like a lot of us, wanted a Deadpool film but he insisted it had to be Rated-R so that it can capture all of the magic. According to the wiki-page for X-Men Origins:Wolverine, Reynolds never wanted it to be family friendly like Captain America. So we can sit-and-wait for people to forget he was in Origins and hopefully, with probable success with the new game coming out, a film will be put into production.

Comic Trivia Of The Day- The Scarecrow

The last of this week's Comic Trivia Of The Day but never fear, it will be back Monday.

So today we will be looking at Jonathan Crane aka The Scarecrow. The Scarecrow was introduced to us in World's Finest Comics #3, way back in 1941.
Crane uses a mixture of psychology and fear tactics to cause his victims to hallucinate, turn insane and he can also literally scare people to death using a special concoction of chemicals that floods the victim with their deepest fears. The Scarecrow has used these custom weapons to tear havoc through the streets of Gotham over the years, be it on his own or with other super-criminals as part of The Injustice Gang or The Sinestro Corps.

This can even be seen in the two of the three most recent Batman films with Raz al Guhl and Bane, this is where the trivia comes in.

Did you know that Jonathan Crane is the only villain to appear in each of the Christopher Nolan films and this is more than any other villain, including The Joker who is portrayed as Batman's greatest enemy. Although he appears in all three film, he only portrays the Scarecrow in two of them (snippets throughout Batman Begins and The very beginning of The Dark Knight) because he is shown in 'normal' clothes when acting as the judge in The Dark Knight Rises.

Thank you for reading!! come back on Monday for more Comic Trivia Of The Day!

Is Joseph Gordon-Levitt going to be Batman in 2015?

So way back in September (I think) I posted about how it could be likely that Gordon-Levitt would take up the role of Nightwing if there were any films going to be made. Thinking about this though, it appears very unlikely that a Nightwing film would be made due to it being a pretty niche audience that would fully appreciate it. So it struck me, a new Batman is needed anyway.

Christian Bale made it quite clear that he did not want to participate in any form of a Justice League film, even before it was announced that it would be released in 2015. This poses the question, who is going to portray Batman in what will hopefully be one of the biggest films of the year as well as bringing DC superhero films up to their Marvel counterparts.

Batman plays a huge role in the Justice League and if he wasn't joint-leader, along with Superman, he would be a very close second in command. So who do I here you ask will feel the role of Batman. Well anybody who has seen The Dark Knight Rises knows that it is hinted that JGL will take over the role of the caped crusader but this is also backed up by something Bruce Wayne says during the film. "The idea was to be a symbol. Batman could be anybody, that was the point." shows that the role of Batman definitely has the option and opportunity to be taken over.

John Blake would have chance to train in the Bat-Cave where Bruce once trained in order to master his detective skills to be ready for when the world needs the heroes of the DC universe to come together to fight whatever evil it may bring!

Comic Trivia Of The Day-The Red Hulk

Here is another issue of Comic Trivia Of The Day!!

So today we will be looking the man who has hated Bruce Banner and The Hulk equally throughout his tragic creation, General 'Thunderbolt' Ross. Before The Hulk was ever created, Ross fought in both World War II and The Korean War which is where he gained his military knowledge and tactics that he later applied to his  personal war with The Hulk.

General Ross then took it too the next level in order to beat the big green monster. He became the thing that he hated the most, a Hulk. But he wasn't the Hulk that everybody knew. The first thing you would notice would be his colouring. Unlike the the original, this new Hulk was red and appeared to have a slightly smaller build that the big green mammoth.
Another difference between the new creation and the original was the level of intellect that the new Hulk had.

The Red Hulk maintained all of the memories and intellect along with all of his army tactics where as Bruce Banner's Hulk was a primitive, cave-man, type, beast.

"I was General Thunderbolt Ross. I became the very thing that I hated most in life. I am the Red Hulk. And for all I've done... I deserve to die......"  The Red Hulk

Comic Trivia Of The Day- Deapool's Face

So today Ladies and Gents we will once again be looking at Marvels favourite lunatic Deadpool.

As mentioned before, Deadpool was part of the weapon x programme ( the same programme that gave Wolverine his adamantium skeleton). Obviously poor Wade's body couldn't handle the stress and he turned a lot crazy, talking to himself all of the time (read any Deadpool comic) But as you can see in the picture above, Wade Wilson does not have the prettiest face in the world.

This is actually a result of being part of the weapon x program. Because of the healing factor that was added to Deadpool, the tumours he was trying to cure also kept healing themselves thus causing a huge internal battle within the body of Deadpool, hence the patchy face.

Comic Trivia Of The Day- Mr Freeze

o Mr Freeze is one of the big time players in Gotham City. Terrorizing the world with sub-zero weapons whilst encased in his giant robotic-like armour which keeps is body below zero degrees.

Victor Fries aka Mr Freeze first appeared in Batman #121 (1959) and has used his ice-cold weaponry to inflict serious damage to the civilians of Gotham and securing millions of dollars that he and is cold-hearted gang have accumulated over the years.

But did you know that Mr Freeze does actually show off his human side. He mainly uses all of the money that he has collected over the years, from a series of crimes, to actually fund his research into curing his beloved wife, Nora Fries, who he has put in a cryogenic sleep in order to preserve he body for the disease that she is dying from

This genuine act of love, be it outside of the law, is the reason why Batman and other members of Batman Incorporated have left him alone over the years (unless he's actually done something really bad of course)

Comic Trivia Of The Day-Stan Lee & Bob Kane

Stan Lee is one of the most recognisable writers/ person to work for comics in possibly the entire world. Introducing some of the most famous marvel characters that have graced the pages of comics including; Spiderman, Hulk, Thor, Ironman plus many other characters and major events throughout his years at Marvel!

But did you know that Stan Martin Lieber ‘Lee’ attended the same high school, Dewitt Clinton High, as the man known for effectively creating graphic novels, Will Eisner as well as the creator of Batman and the majority of his famous enemies, Bob Kane. Who, along with Stan ‘the man’ Lee, is one of my favourite people within the comic book industry.

Comic Trivia Of The Day-The Avengers

Today we will be looking at the avengers.

A hit movie released in 2012, it allowed for many people to start getting into superheroes and comics as well. The film allowed viewers to witness the partnership between Ironman, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Nick fury, Black Widow and Hawkeye.

But did you know the original line-up for the avengers (that was introduced in 1963) consisted of; ant man, Thor, ironman, Hulk and Wasp. Obviously ant-man and wasp never made an appearance, well they could have, but they were probably too small for anyone to notice .....

Comic Trivia Of The Day - Hush

Today we will be looking at one of my personal favorite villains hush.

Thomas Elliot aka hush is one of smartest villains that has ever been in Gotham city.
Hush and Batman have a strange relationship due to the fact hush wants to ruin Bruce Wayne but runs to him for help.

One incident that happens between hush and batman which shows this is when a bomb is planted within hush's body by the joker.
This in turn leads to Hush seeking Batman's help to remove the bomb. What happens after this point is that batman lies to hush and actually leaves the bomb within his body meaning that hush could be sentenced to death and batman would have been the reason why Tommy Elliot had died. Not the usual mind-frame for the bat.....

Comic Trivia Of The Day-Green Arrow/Deathstroke

Ok so today's fact is not really based on a comic book, but rather a comic book character, specifically Oliver Queen aka the Green Arrow.

After only seeing one episode of the T.V series Arrow on Sky 1, I thought that it wasn't too bad; seeing Deadshot appear looking  bad-ass was a pretty good introduction for me. When I was flying to Florida I decided to watch the very first episode.

Did you know that when they were explaining how the billionaire returned to Starr City it shows the island in which Queen is stranded? On that island there shows a mask. A black and orange mask. Any guesses who this mask may belong to?

That's right, it belongs to Slade Wilson a.k.a Deathstroke, or sometimes known as Deathstroke the Terminator.
What does this mean? Well, most people know but it's still a pretty cool way to open a T.V series thinking that the deadliest man in the entire DC universe is somehow involved - meeep!

Thanks for reading you lovely people, please +1 and subscribe, really helps .
Thank you :)

Comic Trivia Of The Day-Superman

Today's little bit of nerdy knowledge looks at the 'Man of Steel' himself, Superman.

Superman has been a staple hero for DC comics and is classed as one of the best superheroes of all time, especially in the DC universe. But even the most powerful superheroes can die. In Superman #75 Superman and Doomsday have an almighty battle, possibly one of the best one on one fights in comic history which leaves both Doomsday and Superman dead at the end of the issue.

Obviously this does not last for long though as it is explained that Superman was actually in a coma and not dead which kind of takes away from the huge battle although it was great news for all the Superman fans. Can you imagine life without Superman? The JLA and other factions would crumble, Metropolis would never be safe and neither would the whole of the DC Universe.

Comic Trivia Of The Day- Deadpool

Today we will be looking at Deadpool, Yayyy!

Probably one of Marvels most popular characters, this anti-hero is probably the most psychotic person ever to grace the pages of comics and yet we all love him! The fact that he is getting his own game, which looks awesome and should be out this Summer!!!

Anywho, Did you know that Deadpool was part of Department K (in Canada) which was secretly working on the Weapon II-X project (where Wolverine was upgraded). By going rouge, Wade Wilson was sent to The Hospice were rogue superheroes were sent for rehabillitation. This was just a place where the people in charge Doctor Killebrew and Ajax tortured Wade, putting a 'dead pool' on him where people bet to see how long it would take him to die and thus this is how he turned into a nutcase and how Wade Wilson will always be better known as Deadpool

Comic Trivia Of The Day- Infinity Gauntlet

Continuing with your daily trivia, here's some more!

Today we will be looking at the infinity gauntlet, possibly the strongest weapon ever in the world of comic books, certainly more powerful than any green lantern ring.
Thanos created the gauntlet in order to become the strongest entity in the universe, and wielder of the worlds. Thanos created this great feat by collecting the 6 infinity gems; Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality and Power.

Thanos managed to wield the gauntlet to wipe out over half of the universe including the Fantastic 4, the majority of the X-men and Daredevil as well. Eventually Thanos was defeated by his Granddaughter, Nebula

Comic Trivia Of The Day -Clayface

So today we will be looking at another aspect of Batman with this time looking at the villain Clayface. The original Clayface (aka Basil Karlo was introduced to the DC universe in 1940 by Bill Finger and Bob Kane.

But did you know that, so far, there have been a total of 8 people who have used the Clayface persona although the 6th Clayface, Peter Malley, actually went under the persona of Claything.

Clayface's malleable  skin allows him to morph into any object or person he wants with pin-point accuracy, well externally anyway. Due to his ever changing appearance,  Clayface does not actually have any bones as such and this can be discovered whilst playing Arkham City when Clayface portrays the Joker.

Comic Trivia of the Day-Fantastic Four

Did you know that, according to the new magazine, Marvel Fact Files, that the very first magazine only cost 10 cents in 1961 but in 2012 it would set you back around $300,000.

That is obviously if its a pristine unused, unread copy which a collector had enough sense to invest in. With a 3,000,000% inflation rate over the past 51 years (averagely it would be about
58823.53% per year although this clearly did not happen every year)

So people resist the urge to open your awesome comics and save them for the future!!!! Jk i couldnt wait 50 years to becone rich knowing that im missing out on the good stuff, just sell 'em on ebay once your favourite hero or villain is dead.

Comic Trivia of the Day-Bat-Girl

So today on the Comic trivia expedition we are looking at the original Bat-Girl Bette Kane who is also known in more recent years as Hawkfire.

So, did you know that the original Bat-girl was introduced in to the Batman in 1961 just to silence any critics that said there was a homosexual relationship/indications between Batman and Robin. This seems stupid now as many people probably won't care due to tolerant times but it was thought, that back in the late 50's/ early 60's that it was deemed necessary.

However when the new editor, Julius Schwartz came onto the Batman scene he deemed this notion silly and scrapped the character Bat-girl as well as her aunty Kathy Kane aka the original Batwoman however the original Bat-girl did crop again throught the pages of DC comics as a number of different heroes called Flamebird and Hawkfire

Comic Trivia of the Day- The Joker

So this is a new thing that I want to do. I want to provide everyone with a bit of comic knowledge that they may not be floating around in normal nerdy conversations.  Hopefully you'll all enjoy it :)
It will be posted every weekday :)

So the first piece of trivia is about my personal favourite character in the whole of the comic-book land,  The Joker.

Introduced in the very first issue of the Batman Comics (Spring 1940), The Joker has been around constantly through all of the different periods and is still the most dangerous and unpredictable person that has ever been shown on the comic-book pages as well as in other media as well (notably his role in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City)

But did you know that according to one of the origin stories of the Joker (and regarded to be the most accurate one) Joker was the original Red Hood which was forced into committing the crime at the Ace Chemical Processing Plant where he worked. This is where he and Batman first encountered each other and this is also the site of the Jokers change from a bumbling frightened man into one of the most sadistic and dangerous villains of all time.
The Red Hood identity is now more famous by being portrayed by Jason Todd, the second Robin, who the Joker killed.

"All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man to lunacy. That's how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day" - Joker

Spider-man and Red Hood, Who's copying who?

Ok so I admit the title must be a bit misleading and I can understand why but please hear me out.

After reading through the first issue of Marvel Fact Files I noticed the outfit that Spider-man wore whilst battling the Sinister Six in the series Amazing Spider-Man (Issue 682) you can see that Spider-man is donning a different costume compared to his usual red and blue spandex. Although looking pretty bad-ass in his outfit, I cant help noticing the mask that he has donned for this mission looks pretty damn similar to that of Jason Todd's Red Hood costume, especially in the animated film 'Under the Red Hood' (which, personally, is the best animated comic book film I have ever seen)

Due to the comic being published in March 2012 it appears that Marvel has 'borrowed' the idea off of the DC character. Due to the fact that there are close to a thousand different characters through out the pages of comics and I'm sure anyone of us would struggle to come up with a tenth of the amount of designs floating about.

I also doubt very much that the artists copied the idea more likely it was subliminal and you have to admit, the mask goes with the awesome armour really well.

Pokemon: The Best of the Best- Generation 2

So it’s time again for us to delve back into the world of Pokémon and see which second generation Pokémon will claim the prize for its round of the real gen wars.
But before we get into it we must look at the polls and we can see that Gyarados is the winner with a massive 75% of the votes (the fact that there was only 4 doesn't matter :P ) and that means that Gyarados will be heading into the final round where he will face Pokémon from the other 4 generations!

So let’s begin.  The Pokémon that will be fighting it out this time will be: Ampharos, Tyranitar, Lugia, Suicune and and Ho-oh

Ampharos
Type: Electric
Advantage over: Flying, Water
Weak against: Ground, Rock

Ampharos is not some special Pokemon that took a special sequence of events to get or the fact you only have one chance to get it. No, quite simply it is just an evolution of Mareep and Flaffy but just much much stronger. Ampharos can learn a number of Electric based move with a high power and accuracy rating along with the potential to paralyse makes it extremely useful when facing the stronger trainers in the games, including gym leaders  and the Elite 4 as well.  Due to the high power to accuracy ratio, it makes Ampharos one of the essentials for any Pokemon team due to it being, overall, one of the strongest electric type Pokemon available in the 2nd Gen games

Tyranitar
Type: Rock/Dark
Advantage over: Psychic, Fire, Flying, Poison
Weak against: Water, Grass, Fighting

Like with Dragonite from generation 1, Tyranitar is an extremely difficult Pokemon to get and at the time of the second generation, you need to evolve your Pupitar up to level 55 which is much higher than any other Pokemon so far. Due to it's menacing nature and dinosaur-like appearance you would expect for it to be a Dragon type and although it can learn Dragon type moves it is simply Rock and Dark. By being both Rock and Dark type it has a very high Attack and Special Attack proven by such moves like Crunch and Earthquake. Tyranitar can also learn a number of different type moves allowing it to potentially become a Pokemon that could wipe through an opponents team with super effective moves used each turn. Also due to the possibility that it can learn Dragon Type moves means it is extremely effective when going against Clair and Lance (8th Gym Leader and Johto Champion respectively)since their dragon based moves will not be so effective against your hulking Tyranitar.

Lugia
Type: Psychic/Flying
Advantage over: Grass, Bug, Ground, Ghost, Fighting

Weak against: Electric, Dark , Rock

According to the films and the history, Lugia is meant to be the strongest of all the bird legendary Pokemon (Ho-oh, Zapdos, Moltres & Articuno) and is shown in the second film to be the ruler and/or controller over the three original legendary birds. With all of this being said, Lugia is also one of the first legends to appear on the front of a game which did not happen with the first generation games. In game, Lugia is a pain in the butt to find, hiding deep within Whirl Islands you have to trawl through their with the patience of a saint, and that's only if you've picked up the Silver Wing on the way on your journeys. Like with Mewtwo, Lugia isn't required to be a part of your team when facing the Elite 4 for the first time but as soon as you do receive it in your team you will breeze through the competition.

Ho-Oh

Type: Fire/Flying
Advantage over: Grass, Ice, Fighting, Bug, Steel, Ground

Weak against: Water, Electric, Rock

Like with Lugia, Ho-Oh is the other legend that appeared joint first on a generation of games since it's the biggest thing on Pokemon Gold and Pokemon HeartGold. Again, like with Lugia, catching Ho-oh is not a straight forward task as you need to firstly get a 'Rainbow wing' and then catch the three legendary dogs which we'll come to later on. Once all of these things are put in place, you then have the chance to catch Ho-Oh. The combination of Fire and Flying will give Ho-Oh a 4X advantage over Grass and Bug type Pokemon. The Fire moves that Ho-Oh can possess, such as Fire Blast, can cause a hell of a lot of damage to any Pokemon.

Little bonus fact: Ho-oh appears in the very first episode of the Pokemon series.

Suicune

Type:Water
Advantage over: Fire, Ground, Rock, Steel

Weak against: Grass, Electric, Ice

Suicune is one of the legendary dogs that appear in generation 2 and also appears on the third game of the generation; Pokemon Crystal. Suicune is an absolute bastard to catch due to the fact that you have to chase it all over the Johto region before having a chance to catch it. Fortunately it is unlike the other two dogs which you just meet in random encounters. Suicune is a serious powerhouse for any team, especially if  you are looking for a very strong water type to add to your team. Catching it at level 40, it adds a decent Pokemon to your team, especially if you picked Cyndaquil as a starter. Suicune can learn a number of powerful water-type moves such as Hydro-Pump and Waterfall.

So that is it for the second generation of Pokemon. Like with last time, a poll will be put up on the side for all of you to vote!
